Oliver and I both held had open houses in calavera Hills this week, which is on the boarder of Carlsbad and Oceanside.
This community seems to have it all, a great elementary school, close location to shopping and freeways and an array of homes that favor larger indoor space. The views from homes surrounding the Calavera Hills are breathtaking. Thankfully most homes backing the trails have rod fencing that allows the views to be taken in.
My favorite aspect is the amazing open space and available hiking trails through flower fields, wetlands, around a lake I've read this is the location of an inactive volcano. Calavera Hills has unpaved hiking trails with moderate difficulty. My husband, being from the Alps, had missed that feeling of being in the nature and the sense of quietness.
Bring your dogs along on this hike! We enjoyed walking that this hike is dog-friendly. Our other favorite areas to walk, like Torrey Pines doesn't allow four legged friends. on.
I'd highly recommend this community, both the Carlsbad side, and the Oceanside side (that tends to be more affordable) to anyone who enjoys feeling living among natural open spaces.
